Discover the story behind the charter

All about Adventure Awaits

We are docked in beautiful St. Thomas, USVI.

When we first moved to St. Thomas, everyone we met explained, "You haven't truly experienced the Virgin Islands until you get out on the water." After we purchased our charter boat, we finally understood just what they were talking about. There is truly nothing like the beauty that comes from the islands.

Our experience comes from the Navy and the Coast Guard, which is where much of our extensive marine knowledge comes from. We made it a priority almost immediately after we came to St. Thomas to connect with the local community and find out where the most beautiful spots are. Now, we get to share that knowledge with all of you!

At the end of the day, we are simply a family who wants to share the beauty of our home with you—whether you live in St. Thomas or are traveling from the other side of the world! We make it our mission to provide a memorable, relaxing, fun experience to each and every individual.

"WE TRAVEL NOT TO ESCAPE LIFE, BUT SO THAT LIFE DOES NOT ESCAPE US."

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
What happens if the weather looks bad?
A.

The Virgin Islands gets rain in one area or another almost every day, but it is usually short and spotty. Your captain will do their best to avoid rain clouds, but if there are dangerously high waves or strong winds, your trip may be cancelled. If this happens, you will have the choice of a refund or an option to reschedule.

Q.
How early should I arrive for my charter?
A.

At a minimum, we ask you to be there 15 minutes early. However, if you can arrive 30 minutes early, that would be much appreciated! You don't want to miss departure time! Adventure Awaits has a nice, air conditioned lounge in the office at Oasis Cove Marina to hang out in, so feel free to come even earlier. Who knows, maybe the lounge is stocked and ready for a quick pre-charter snack and drink.

Q.
What is your cancellation policy?
A.

Because we offer so many different packages, the cancellation policy can vary. The general rule of thumb is if you need to cancel, do it more than five days before your charter. We do offer a "reassurance plan" that will allow you to cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours in advance of your charter, just select this option as an add-on when you check out.

Q.
What does the itinerary look like?
A.

The itinerary depends on the number of stops you'd like to take, the distance to each island, and the length of time you'd like to spend at each location. A member of our team will reach out to you to discuss your desired destinations. On the day of your charter, the captain will determine if your itinerary coincides with the current weather and sea state. For suggested itineraries, feel free to visit our Destinations page!

Q.
What is the average fuel charge?
A.

Our yacht has fuel-efficient engines in order to keep your costs low. We use a digital fuel reader to determine usage. Depending on the distance traveled and gas prices, charges can vary greatly. A trip from the USVI to Jost Van Dyke can average approximately $100-$200, Virgin Gorda may be around $200-$300, Baths is around $250-350. Please note that unlike most of the other charters, Adventure Awaits DOES NOT waste your time visiting a crowded fuel dock at the end of the day—we can do that on our time, not yours.

Q.
Are the charters private or shared?
A.

This completely depends on what you want. When you pay the charter price for the full-day or half-day option, the yacht becomes privetly rented out by you and whoever you invite. If you want to do a full-day or half-day but don't want to pay the full price, let us know and we can open up the yacht trip to allow others to book the trip with you. Once the minimum number of participants is reached then we are all set to go.

Q.
Do we tip our Captain and crew?
A.

Yes, it is customary to tip your Captain and crew 15-20% for an excellent day!

Q.
What is needed for the BVI?
A.

You will need your passport! Also, be prepared to pay customs charges, which are approximately $70 per person. (Note: there can be additional fees on Sundays and holidays.)
